A Mother's Roses

This painting in acrylic that was done in the mid eighties for my mother a few short years before her passing. The three roses represented the three children she had. This painting made it's way back to me after being with my sister for some years then my brother and now back to me. It is a very special work that my mother treasured and now I treasure it along with her very special memory. I will always love you mom, your son Brentie.

Bird in the Birches

This design has three elements in it's construction, the first element is the outline of the white birch tree's, the lines themselves are a weighted line. The second element is the crosshatching that is done in the background to give it a recessed fade from dark to light making the trees stand out and to all so give the feeling they are in a cold and snowy place. The third element is the focal point, the bird nesting in the birches. The bird done in red is not only the design's focal point but also adds a monochromatic third element and final part that pulls the design together.

Art of Deception

This piece is done from a photograph that I took of the underneath of the Deception Pass bridge in Oak Harbor Washington State. Famous for its structural beauty in an outstanding and beautiful environment it is also a magnet for those that use its 180 ft. height to unfortunately end their lives. While the name of the bridge comes from it's tricky location making those navigating it by water long ago somewhat of a task, I named this piece after the bridge itself and its dark secrets. This piece is done on a 24 by 36 inch canvas that was then taped off to around the edges to create a matted white border. The design itself was done in pen to create the straight lines then filled in with a carbon black acrylic, after many hours of working on the structure the airbrushing of the surrounding area was done to give an old black and white photo quality to the piece. The airbrush was used again with white to give the washed out with sunlight look to the center of this piece and also to the iron beams to the upper left and right to also give them the washed out with sunlight look. Finally the piece was framed in a simple black frame. I really enjoyed doing this painting and I hope you enjoy it to.

Art Gecko

This piece uses the element of  pointillism.The design is first applied lightly in pencil for the shape and then the colors were applied in the chosen locations and put in via colored pencils so that it corresponded with the markers that were used in the pointillism. I chose the black as a background to punctuate the colors used, then matted it in black to correspond with the black background.

Bomber Art

This piece was inspired by my love of old world war II aircraft and the art work that adorned the nose's of the fighter's and bomber's of that era, getting one of these from an original plane is costly and next to impossible making one was the only I would ever have one for myself, this one I made for my nephew who is in the navy and works on navy planes and the ordnance that they carry. All my bomber art pieces start out with a wooden buck and then are covered in a thin aluminum sheeting, small nails are put in to give it a riveted look then age with flat black paint then the art is applied and aged.

Woodland Lines

Woodland lines an incorporation of two design elements. The first element is the background, which was created by using thick and thin lines with a sepia toned water colored wash overlay giving the background a wood grained look. Then the second element of design of over lapping organic lines representing a tree is placed over the top. This piece was then matted in a leather brown corresponding matte board.
